Oh what to do with the Pearl.....

Saved from the chop nearly three years ago, and proudly dominating the forum top strap line even since, the Pearl White Pre face D2 S8 is thought to be the only one in existence....

However. In 2.75 years, it has covered a mere 5500 miles, a good chunk of which was its TV appearance on Strippers, cars for cash last year....

Its been serviced and maintained to death, but hardly used and really it needs to move on before it grows roots.

It was a very high factory spec: Blinds, Bose, PDC, Electric heated rear seats, Solar sunroof, headlamp wash, cruise control and of course the optional factory pearlescent paint job...

Now, practically speaking, its had loads of new bits, servicing, MOT's, new tyres etc, but hasn't been a daily driver for some time.

There is no desire to let it go, and should there be any issues, have it tarnish the good name of a8parts or the other work they do....

.....but providing a warranty on a car of this age makes it more economical to dismantle it :eek2:

And keeping it really isn't an option as we tried that for nearly 3 years now... +++

D2 S8's are now very rare, and good ones rarer still. High spec good ones with piles of solid history are rarer still. But still, it would take a value of around 5K to make it worthwhile selling on as a running car vs making into parts once you consider the hassle of a full prep for sale....

As its xmas we've also toyed with the idea of having a competition (with suitable entry fee!) to win this piece of history....

So, what the heck happens to it ?

What's the issue with keeping it and taking it to shows?

Seems a waste to break any car that works and has life left in it.
It should be a sin breaking a working ultra rare car like this.
Keep it, you guys got the space to keep it tucked up nice and drive it to shows?

I'd like to own it to stop it from getting broken but I lack to the main things of owning it.
So I guess I can only express my views on the thought of breaking it.
Don't do it!!

Scrap it? :eek::hammer:

didnt amanda want to buy this if it ever came up for sale?

Norretal 15th December 2014 01:01 PM

Wasn't there a female forum member who was keen to buy it a while ago?

It'd be sacrilige to break it, such an extremely rare example :-(

I'd have it if I had somewhere suitable to store it and enough knowledge to look after it.
Sadly lacking both fronts. :o

Still miss my old one.

If that car gets broken..............I will have to resort to physical violence!!!!!!!!

Why don't we do shared ownership - I have it for the first 5 years, then I pass it on to the next person :)

Don't scrap it please
