If I recall correctly, min took a few (half a dozen?) goes to connect it (4s to 2009 D3) but it did it eventually. That was about 12 months ago (when I got the 4s) and no problems since.

Luckily? there was no damage whatsoever. The unmanned red cavalier had rolled about 20 feet at a very slow speed into the side of my A8. Several people saw it happen, though the owner was oblivious...

I understand that this type of strut can lose effectiveness during cold weather. I'd wait until it warms up a bit before spending any money on the problem.
