Personally i wouldn't go blow that stupid amount of money on I8, i'd probably give some thought for the Tesla, but the I8 is just ridiculous money for what it is...

the torque converter wouldn't have anything to do with that clunk but with some slippage you'd feel when in 5th gear at 50mph you'd push the throttle and then the rpm would jump and no speed...

i agree the 3.0t engines are a masterpiece with a lot of potential, have also driven an S4 B8 which was close to 420hp and it was fast, no doubt about it but it still misses the grunt of the V8/V10....

it definitely was meant to be stronger, and it was, holding up 450hp and close to 600NM is far more than the 360 and 420NM of an S8. Problem was tuning which would put even more stress on the gearbox...
