If it was me, I’d not bother with a aerated block and go for a dense concrete block, almost certainly better at blocking noise +++. That said, also a lot heavier!

To be fair to the police, must be a difficult balance between "IT worker not getting out of bed" and "bad guy destroying evidence" - I suspect skewed by the fact they deal with more of the latter!
