I've found them - they're called "Maxi slow-blow"...

I've found them - they're called "Maxi slow-blow" fuses for future reference. I've not come across these before. The "slow-blow" aspect of the fuse must be the cause of my melted wiring!

Thanks. I've had a further look this afternoon and I don't think the fuse box I mentioned in the first post is the one I want either now. It turns out the diagram I was looking at was for LHD cars....
