No leak from the diff noticed but will...

No leak from the diff noticed but will double-check. I'll go for a drive and try to figure whether it's coming from one side or the other - maybe get someone to sit in the back.

Diff whine

My 85,000 mile 2003 A8 has a whine from the rear of the car at motorway speeds, below 55 - 60 it's totally absent. I think it's from the diff but can't be 100% sure. Any thoughts or suggestions?.

I have the same problem so have just ordered the replacement gear. For £13.17, it's worth it. I'll let you know when it arrives and how easy it is to fit it.
