FWIW mine was like that when I bought the car, i.e. only very few channels worked and only in very specific locations. Turned out the Amp was broken - although I couldn't find any way to verify this....

255/45/19 and 255/40/18 have the same circumference, and 255/45/19 is bigger, so that's the one that will "mess" with speedo, i.e. instead of showing a few % more than actual speed it would be spot...

Does your car have sports suspension? Mine does and I changed from 19" to 18" and it made a huge difference. 18" was standard size on 4.2TDI SE at the time, so they'll fit, I doubt 17" will. I guess...

Facelift did get upgrades to suspension and soundproofing, other than that just cosmetic such as fog lights, rear lights and some chrome trims in the interior. Later facelifts also had 3G MMI.
