Perhaps the ballast is on it's way out. You can try swapping them over and see if it shows the other side as faulty? Did you replace it with a good quality bulb?

I've never seen a 10 year old S8 for less than £500, be it a D2 or D3. Prices have held well for good examples. The D4 is getting close to 10 years and I don't see that dropping below £10k anytime...

The part numbers are different. One starts 4E1 (LHD) and the other 4E2 (RHD), the rest is the same. There is a supersession, the newer part ends in 'C' rather than 'B'
