Try after pressing the release button, put your hand under the glove box closer to the left hand side and gently pull towards you. Works for me when It sometimes does not open with the button.

new sensor was super easy to fit just pulled out nicely.

The only time consuming job was having to remove the arch liner to gain access to disconnect the plug.
