Perfectly normal to have steam from the tail pipe on a very cold morning. As correctly stated above! Keep an eye on coolant level but really nothing to worry about. Head gasket failures are possible...

The Passat was bad but not as bad as the S8 as it was head on, whereas the S8 was sideways at front corner if that makes sense......? Still bad enough tho!
