Problem solved

I emailed our sponsors to ask and they looked at a spare they had for sale, as well as asking one of their mechanics. Knowing they had a spare for sale for £22.99 and them confirming that it is just a push fit, I opened the rear window and gave one end an extremely firm pull and it lifted the end slightly.
I then used a trim removal lever on the inside to gently lever it and it eventually broke free.
It doesn't look too distorted although it is covered in flaky blue paint.

The problem became obvious once it was removed. It had been put on when the paint was wet and this 'ruffled' the partially cured paint, causing it to act like glue. It has also dug into the top of the door so that needs be be carefully flatted. Still, all mostly sorted.

Now for removal of the rear bump and aerial before I prepare for painting next week.

Hoping to get it ready for Audis in the park
