Hi yes thanks all received. Didn't have the right car until this morning to try it out as I've been driving my D2 for a few days - and the news is. . . erm nope it didn't work either unfortunately - I can only think to try a DVD+ as all of the ones I've tried so far including my own have all been burned onto a DVD- spec disc and perhaps the nav drive is looking for a plus, other than than I'm completely flummoxed! 
Thanks to all for trying anyways I really appreciate it.
I'm going to try this site now in a final desperate move lol - will let you know if it works once it arrives
