Gilsland Hall Hotel
This will be a longish report with a few photos.
This hotel overlooks the village of Gilsland that lies north of the A69 between Carlisle and Hexham. Very rural area with some grand scenery. Unfortunately I chose a weekend of the worse weather possible. Heavy rain and strong winds.
Photo 1 The main entrance into Reception.
Photo 2 Reception as you enter the hotel.
Photo 3 The Public Area in the stair well. Off this area there is a large TV room with a large round table. Good place for a committee type of meeting.
Photos 3 & 4 Are views of the most important room at the hotel . . .The Bar.
Photos 5, 6 & 7 Views of the room that I used. A very pretty young lady was attempting to tidy my mess but she would not let me include her in any of the photographs, shame.
Photo 8 View from the main entrance.
Photo 9 Is also from the main entrance but slightly to the right of the previous view. In this view you can see the village of Gilsland in the valley.
Photo 10 Is the front of the hotel. I took this one between some very heavy downpours.
Photos 11 & 12 Are views from the hotel front looking south across the valley towards the A69.
Photo 13 Car park alongside the entrance. Parking available for 23 cars.
Photo 14 Was taken from the car park in Photo 13. The windows on the left are the Bar windows. The drive leads up to the main car park.
Photo 15 Entrance to the main car park. This is rather large, note the three coaches. We had plenty of space to drive in and turn the beasts around. That corner alone could take six coaches.
Photo 16 Another view of the main car park. I did not count the spaces but plenty room for our vehicles.
Photo 17 Part of the dining room. This was being prepared for our Sunday Carvery Lunch.
Photo 18 The Carvery Servery waiting to be stocked.
Photo 19 The vegetable servery waiting to be stocked.
Photo 20 The Ballroom. Decorated for the line dancing weekend. Note the Bar at the far end.
That's all folks. Hope it is of use.
