400 miles for me but I just turn the trip into a mini-break now ..
I usually travel up on Thursday, borrow the Mackie courtesy car and leave my car with them overnight. We stay somewhere fairly local the first night. Had a night at the
Sherbrooke Castle Hotel last year and an apartment in Troon the year before that.
Often by lunchtime Friday John has called to say my car is ready to pick up, so we spend Friday afternoon sight-seeing and heading towards our next 'digs'. Last year we spent Friday and Saturday night in an apartment near Edinburgh, then had a leisurely drive back home on Sunday.
