OK, I've been and looked at the relays and taken a picture (attached).
There are 3 sets, the lower ones are out of the picture and the upper ones are mostly hidden by a big flap of heavy felt material but just in view.
The top row corresponds to the layout that both Sean and I found, with a row of fuses below the relays.
I think the leftmost one (204, 40A) is the one I'm after. I think the part number is 431 951 253H.
Not sure what the righthand one (373, 40A) is in position 5 or the two narrow green items in 3 and 4. There's another 373 to the right of that in position 6 out of shot.
I didn't pull the 204 as it's socket felt insecure and I though I'd ask for opinions first. Currently the car starts in P and I haven't touched the gear stick.
Sadly I found another problem when gaining access, water under the carpets...
The scuttle is actually dry so this must be the aircon drains again. Another job for the list.

1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
