That image seems to be AWOL, MJ...……

Anyway looking at the pictures, the curve of the boot lid, and the subtle curve of the badge itself to fit the boot (look at one from above) I'm using the width (including chrome border) of the red parallelogram as a baseline and the bottom left corner as the datum point.

I reckon it's about 1.5" (38mm) wide. The corner is about 50% of that (3/4", 19mm) in from the side and about 65% of that (1", 25mm) up from the bottom.
The gap between the two halves is trickier to estimate, but probably only about 1/8" or 3mm.

My 5mm separation is clearly too much and now I know the whole thing must come off! But how to refix it, is there a recommended double-sided tape to use or will any reasonable type do? I have some very thin transparent tape that should do the job, it has no "padding" in it unlike numberplate or mirror fixing pads.

PS: As a footnote, my current S8 came to me with both an S8 and 4.2 badge on the rear! I hadn't noticed the issue but was soon "told off" by the good people here.
The 4.2 badge came off PDQ, but I have to say that no-one noticed my S8 badge was in the wrong place - call yourself experts?
This does make me wonder if the first owner had ordered it "de-badged" and a subsequent one had the badges fitted, doubly-incorrectly, as he wanted to show off his S8? There's no sign of any accident damage or repair and I'm pretty sure the boot lid is original, not least because of the rotting grommets!

1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
