I would have thought a 1998 facelift is unlikely. The pre facelift went up to 1999 'T' reg models, and you also get 'T' reg facelift models. I think yours is a very early facelift as they came with a lot of the goodies yours does. Where is your Vag Com port located, under the ash tray or the drivers footwell? That should clear it up, in the early facelifts it was under the ashtray.
