I've come to the conclusion now that its meant to do it, been doing it for over 12k now, (as long as I have owned it) I think the mid gear lockup is meant to be there, you get the feeling you've got 6 gears, but thats about it. Shes just had a 10k service and I asked the mechanic to take her out for a test drive to test the MAF and he says its fine, and doesn't know what I'm complaining about. Others have said the 5spd auto on audis arn't that smooth compared to bmw and merc's anyway....
I also have the VAGCOM print out and its clean other than the usual, alarm went off, tire pressure monitor switched off etc.
