Assuming that they are all fitted the same way, then yes, you can remove them, and WD40 will be very useful.

If you look at this first photo, this is what the exhaust tip looks from the back. First step is to loosen up the bolt (I ended up replacing the old rusted bolt). I then used a large flat bladed screwdriver to wedge open the clamp a bit more.

The large offset ring is the chrome exhaust tip. The next ring with the cut at the three o'clock position is the actual exhaust pipe, and within that is another 'split ring' (not sure of it's proper name) with the cut at the eight o'clock position.

If you look at the second photo, I've moved the inner ring so that you can see how it's constructed, and this is what ultimately holds the exhaust tip in place. Once the bolt is loosened, it's then just a case of twisting and turning the exhaust tip until it comes off, although after faffing about with it what seemed like ages, I can't remember how I finally managed to remove it.
