I believe there is no VED since there are no emissions, but there is a 'premium supplement' for the first five years.
Costs as far as I see, Electricity - 5p per mile, based on filling up at home mostly. Occasionally I go further afield and the leccy is more expensive, and sometimes it is free, so averages out.

Tyres I guess at some point. Screen wash. Wiper blades. Can't see the brake pads ever being used up and It'll go to the scrappers on its original brake discs. Using the brake pedal is a real novelty, once / twice a journey maybe.

Insurance for the Tesla isn't cheap, but then it does go bloody fast, so its not unreasonable. Factor in 50% increase in premium over a normal performance ICE.

Tax, yes, it attracts showroom tax as it costs over 40K. But apparently this doesn't kick in till year 2, so I'm currently paying no road tax....

Brand new, so no warranty/repair/roadside recovery worries

Factor in spending a few hundred quid on a fast charger for home if you want one. I bought one, but never got round to having it fitted as the mobile charger that came with it does me perfectly well. There are grants available to assist with the bulk of the charger purchase/install.

The big cost saving, is the company car element. At the moment its attracting a 16% BIK (lowest possible) but that drops to 0% in April.

This means, my company pays £620 / month for it, tax free. I pay no tax after March. That £620, if I took it out of the company to buy an ICE would attract all sorts of tax, seriously limiting my choices. I put down a 5K deposit, I think the government chuck in 3.5K at the moment too.

Chargers, Tyres, Insurance, road tax, brakes and wipers all go through the business, if and when needed, tax free, as does electricity if its at a business premises.

Its eyewatering how much more expensive it is to run an equivalent new model ICE. Factor in fuel, and there's a strong argument that even a fully paid up ICE with no monthly finance is not saving a great deal, if anything, over a new EV at the moment.
