Thanks for the reply and pointers, a lot of which is reassuring what I understand already - the similarities between share trading and crypto trading appear to be similar except where Poloniex effectively gives you direct access - kind of like Level 2 on share trades, which I like the setup of.
I've got my coinbase setup and funded with a base amount to try and test, also sorted on Poloniex, I'm following a Udemy course from Suppoman at the moment to give me the bones understanding.
I think the hardest thing will be identifying new coins and assessing ICOs.
