Audi use it in quite a few places. The a-pillars on B5 and C5 are full of it, as are the sills on those and the D2. Its useful for stiffening and sound absorption.
Its not fire-retardant either. I found that out when I tested a sample before having the sill welded on Dean's Big Red - it burns quite well. Ended up digging it all out and then re-applying it once the weld was finished.
