I was surprised to find out, depending on which suburban areas you count, Paris actually has a bigger population than London!
as you suggest , it depends where you draw the line ..the paris urban area is reckoned to be something around 12 million , london calculated on the same basis around 14 million
but le bourget is officially not in paris , it's a commune with it's own council /mayor/budget etc
if you want to be precise I suppose our friend boris is mayor to perhaps 3 times as many people as the mayor of paris ; what both have in common is that a lot of local decisions are made in smaller units contained within the city , called arrondisments in paris and boroughs in london ...but what's in a name !

did you get to the museum ?...never got around to it myself
