Well worth it, in my opinion, if the car is otherwise a good 'un, especially considering the 3 year warranty and the peace of mind that gives.

I think it all depends on your perspective: Do you scrap it because the repair is more than the car is worth? ... Or, do you consider what the (presently) low purchase price of these cars has saved you as a way of funding the cost of running and repairing it?
