Although different fluid in the SWB, it's the same box, ZF6HP26, as in the LWB. But the final drive ratio is lower, giving stunning acceleration, especially mid range, which makes for sling-shot overtaking on A roads. I get around 20mpg overall, mostly careful, occasional hooning. The reason there aren't many of them is probably because Audi wanted to to use the more raucous sportier V10 for an S8, even though it has less torque, and restrict the W12 to its top-of-the range marques.
