I've seen it working and solving the issue within the mentioned 500miles 3.5years ago. It has never came back.
Honestly worth every penny. It worked very well in diesel A8s and Q7s and petrol A8s.
I wouldn't make stuff up and bullsh1t anyone just for a fun or to score another post  and it's all based on real life examples.
