Conan, I am definitely going to approach Audi in some way along the lines you have mooted. They seem a little lazy. I find it hard to believe that rectification would be cheaper than market value.
From the talk that I see from them, they see to be intimating that they would need to engineer a solution and test their efforts, making a fix uneconomical???
The part number for the airbag seems to linger past the dates they mention for different models so there may be hope.
