Many LED festoons don't have a load resistor and heatsink to trick the bulb check into thinking the bulb is still there (LEDs on their own don't pull enough power). The lights are then disabled until the ignition is cycled.
You need the type with either the metal fins or the ones that look cast in ceramic (these are a better fit) I find they are a little bright so turn them round 45 degrees.
