So, as you have probably heard, the car I'm buying has this issue too, but it's too severe to leave because it's dripping.

I spoke to Audi and they insist on going through the diagnostic process but in the end, they call out a glazer.

Audi originally told me if they did the work that they'd order in a screen just in case it broke, but later they said they couldn't order one unless it was paid for first... Humph.

I googled glazers in my area and found one online that seemed to get good reviews and they say they specialise in prestige and performance cars. Funnily enough, I spoke to the same guy that all the reviews were gushing about and I can see why! He was really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

He said if it's a normal toughened screen, he was 99.9% sure the glass wouldn't break, but the laminated glass is likely to break. He quoted me the same price as Audi's laminated screen (£895+VAT) and gave me the usual line about them being made in the same factory, but it wouldn't have the Audi logo. I checked my PR codes, and I have a laminated screen.

In the end, he said he was going to be in the area of my work on Wednesday, and he agreed to send a tech round to take a look and try to diagnose the leak. That's really handy, because it should save me the diagnostic charge at Audi.

The replacement will be £125+VAT, plus the cost of the screen, if necessary. I was pleased to hear that he said he would send out two techs for 'a job like this'.

I think if I did go ahead, I'd have the work done in my garage, so I'd have time to order an Audi screen (special order from factory) without fear of the car being unprotected from the elements.

So, my question is, has anyone had a laminated screen refit? Did it break?
