Credit where it's due, Carl (at Prestige) quickly rectified the mistake by sourcing the correct arms and posting them out to me
I now have what appear to be the correct arms but unfortunately my car had to be put back together with the old (lower front) arms. Luckily however, those arms weren't too worn and all the clunks, rattles and tramlining problems seem to have gone
Examining the rest of the old arms, it seems that the main culprit was the rear upper arm ball-joints. The was no noticeable play in any of the ball-joints when they were on the car but, now that they're off the car, the rear upper arm ball-joints are noticeably looser. I wonder if that's a common failure or if the (OE) rear upper arms in this case were just substandard?
These are the part numbers for the Meyle HD rear upper arms I now have:
116 050 8292/HD - Rear Upper Arm (Left)
116 050 8293/HD - Rear Upper Arm (Right)
And (I think) these are the OE part numbers for the rear upper arms:
4D0 407 509 J - Rear Upper Arm (Left)
4D0 407 510 J - Rear Upper Arm (Right)
So for future reference, the Meyle HD Control Arm Kit part number is: 116 050 0041/HD, which includes the following arms (plus all the required nuts, bolts, etc):
2 x 116 060 0006 - Stabiliser Links
2 x 116 020 0008/HD - Tie Rod Ends
2 x 116 050 8239/HD - Front Upper Arms
1 x 116 050 8292/HD - Rear Upper Arm (Left)
1 x 116 050 8293/HD - Rear Upper Arm (Right)
The kit also comes with the following lower arms which are for the
non-20" wheel cars
1 x 116 050 8299/HD - Rear Lower Arm (Left)
1 x 116 050 8300/HD - Rear Lower Arm (Right)
2 x 116 050 0031/HD - Front Lower Arms
For 20" wheel cars (FE), the lower arms need to be substituted with these:
1 x 116 050 0139/HD - Rear Lower Arm (Left)
1 x 116 050 0140/HD - Rear Lower Arm (Right)
2 x 116 050 8228/HD - Front Lower Arms
