Bit of shopping around, and you can find something quite reasonable for ~6K. Towbars are a regular occurrence and they tow brilliantly, plus have the comfort. Various tuning options and vag quality.

It is a valid suggestion and appreciate the heads up, the major plus for me in a pickup is running it through the business, low BIK, low road tax, vat back, 130% supertax relief, low personal tax.
Really need to sell this A4 though, probably wrong time of year because the car is solid
