Default Next Car: D3 S8, D4 4.2 or something else???

Hi There,

I've had an 8 for a fair while now and my D3 v8 4.2 Sport with 180k on the clock is starting to get fairly long in the tooth, it keeps passing the mot, but is hardly a show piece, but a working car and i've not killed it....I killed a couple of D2 S8's though at ~230k my FL one didn't owe me much and this one doesn't either.

Runs, but cosmetically the bumper incident and prior scratches down the passenger side means residuals are probably in the grand to two mark.

It's Bonus time and whilst I like spending round the £5k mark, 'll probably need to do £10-15K - Well I can do more, but I like buying outright and more would be raiding investments!

I've had a S8 itch since the first one, the 4.2 petrol is probably slightly quicker on paper, but it never really felt it. Good cruiser though, comftable and reasonable toys. I've been loosly look for one for the past couple of years.
Problem is apart from a slightly faster acceleration, i'm not sure what else it gives over my PF D3. I've also had an inkling for B&O, so it would have to have that.

D4 - Most these seem to be TDI. I'm not really a diesel fan, though actually not sure why. A lot are 3.0 and i'd much prefer the 4.2 - New toys, new tech, on the higher end of the budget and not an S either.

In skimming Auto trader, the idea of Non 8 came up and i found the Lexus LS600H most are the L spec which i'm less keen on and while the presidential spec is REALLY cool. I hardly ever have anyone in the rear, and it's the driver first and side passenger comfort i'm interested in. A shiatsu massage in the back and I'd never get to see the GF on road trips.
Hybrid looks fun, adds speed and torque, drops emissions and brings MPG up a touch. However it's also 4WD which alas the LS460 isn't and I must admit i really like from the Audis! 0-60 is comparable and lots of toys and luxury and supposedly pretty bulletproof in reliability!
Bit rare, EVEN more of a sleeper and finding a non L may be tricky at a good price!

Any thoughts, Idea or things to look at???
