How is the throttle body reset done on our cars? After searching around various VAG forums, there seems to be quite a few different ways.

One that involves VAG-COM, one that involves turning the ignition on for 2 minutes but not starting it and another one 5 seconds with accelerator pedal down with ignition on but not starting and a couple of others!

So which is it for a 2001 S8? I don't have VAG-COM so obviosly would like to know the 'poor man's' version!

Basically, I disconnected my battery for about 3 or 4 days while I charged the battery at 3.8A, then connected it back up to the car and have left it on trickle charge ever since.

MOT is tomorrow so if I need to do this TB reset, I need to do it l today! Don't want it potentially running rough for the MOT.
