I think people (maybe more the media) are getting hyped up about the changes with warnings of £2.k fines etc. If your car is well maintained I'd imagine you'd be aware that it's likely to fail with a 'dangerous fail'.

I've also read media reports that suggest people may now get fined for driving away after failing when getting the MOT done early when it's always been the case that if it fails then the previous one is invalid even if there is a month left to go.
