If you take a look directly upwards from the base of the ski hatch opening in the boot (the underside of the parcel shelf in effect) there is a couple of slits in the metal where the gold piece of steel will slot into (apply a little pressure to bend it slightly so it will snap into position)
This will then line up with the magnet so that when the hatch is in use it keeps the cover up and out of the way.
