I trick I learned from a mate (for next time) is as soon as you realise you're hooked up on the curb, find something (like a couple of blocks of wood) you can shove in behind the front wheels to make the car climb up as you reverse it.
Can prevent (further) damage...

2009 Volvo XC90 V8 R Design - has a louder more obnoxious exhaust than the S8, sounds great! Love this thing - Q7 was double the price, and certainly not double the car!
