seem to have problem cracked !
andrew suggested some time ago to check for a problem with the boot catch and lo and behold there appears to have been an intermittent problem there which would explain why the voltage went up at one point
suffice it to say that following a spray with a mousse type product for electronic components the drain on the new battery has reduced to .02 volts /day which seems to me to be a perfectly acceptable drain bearing in mind the amount of electronics on the car
anyway will see the effect of my AA solar panel on the new battery ....even with a modicum of bright light should replace the current level of drain ....we shall see !

anyway , must research where the microswitch is ....bound to happen again
