Locating pins for the inlet manifold - one on each bank. They hold the manifold gasket in place and guide the manifold itself in to place on its locating dowels.
They usually snap when the manifold comes off as its almost impossible to lift it straight up with the engine in the car, plus if you don't know about them you don't know not to slide it.
