Just for information so you can make sense of what you see re. 'red light'.
The optical loop normally goes:
1) Control Head [aka Interfacebox] in the dash
2) Phone - passenger floor
3) Boot - Amp, Nav, TV, Radio
4) Glovebox - Media 1, Media 2 [typically CD, AMI]
5) Gateway - dashboard
You can check the path on a working MMI by using the MMI hidden 'Red screen' - the device numbers are, I believe, in loop order.
