After a failed attempt at cleaning the centre cap outer ring and spraying it chrome (due to excessive corrosion), I removed the outer ring, cleaned it all up and sprayed the whole centre cap chrome to go with the refurb.

One thing that I did notice was that there is a huge amount of dirt behind the chrome ring contributing to the corrosion - poor design.

I did not sand it all back to get a perfect finish as I will probably either replace them with new or do them again when I have more time, but at a small distance, you cannot really tell.
