In the end I called a chap over who does all VAG coding and he sorted it. It's worth pulling the code first before you swap/replace.

My car would often throw up ABS module codes - loads of other related bits would be affected.
Yeah, I'm waiting to get my module back from the 2nd repair attempt. If that doesn't work I'm crossing my fingers that @Architex_mA8tey has one laying around

I think I got the coding part figured out so that shouldn't be a problem
