Just fitted mine too. The cover fits back OK without any trimming, though mine was already missing one leg of the clip onto the strut brace so does have more freedom to flex.

Maybe it was brain fade but at first I couldn't get it to slip into place and thought I'd have to take the whole strut brace out!
But just remove both bolts completely and lift the end of the brace up a few mm; that gives just enough room to wiggle the block in from the centre of the car. It can't go in from the outside due to the taper on the brace.

A very snug fit; with the bolts just hand-tight there was a 1-2mm gap between the brace and it's mounting. The bolts tightened up very satisfactorily with the block then firmly locked in place.

e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
