Both the D3 I owned had the phone cradle in the tray, it's bugged me since I got them and totally spoils a lovely car, the easiest upgrade you'll do on a D3, buy a tray with no hole thanks to A8parts, pop the arm metal cover and the trim, unscrew and swap, finally a usable tray
