Start by checking your battery. The MMI can shutdown various bits if its power source is not up to scratch. Next step would be trying to figure if one of the mmi connected modules such as Bluetooth, Amp etc. has gone faulty. If one goes down, it all goes down. You can buy a fibre optic loop from Audi to bypass each module in turn to isolate the faulty one. Scan/Clear faults as you go.
The MMI control panel can also play up if someone has spilled something on the buttons. It's a poor design having cupholders right next to the mmi panel.
