I had exactly the same thing with my other car (Freelander 2). Outsides were smooth and evenly worn across the complete face. At one MoT the garage showed me the inside faces which were similar to Jims and with the pad probably acting on less than 50% of the face with a corresponding decrease in braking efficiency.
