You are correct. If the car is sold in Aust, then the only way to import is to have owned it for over 2years and have proof of use during that time. Then, and only then, can you import it - but you must pay to have complianced in Aust o meet our regs ($$$$$$$) and then pay the taxes which makes it almost not worth it.

If the model was sold here, we could import under the "grey" laws, but then the taxes charged basically make it the same as buying a similar model here. Just ridiculous really.
