It is a mechanical link and doesn't require any elastictrickery. Quite often it is seized so it won't turn at all which just requires dismantling and cleaning. I've not encountered one which just spins - that could be an issue with the tumblers being stuck and not engaging the mechanism, but its relatively straightforward to re-key a good used lock so thats also an option. |
OK, so thats the next job then. Dismantle, clean and re-assemble. I THINK i can see what should be happening and the tumblers sticking could well be the issue. At the moment Ive left it full of WD40 and Ill see what happens tomorrow when I should also be getting a new battery under the warranty.
