The GPS antenna cable does not have spade connectors in it!
It's a (thin) shielded coaxial cable and you also wouldn't find it meandering through the boot (trunk).

It sounds like someone's been trying to wire an accessory of some sort in, but heavens only knows what.

You can buy standard GPS antennae very cheaply that can connect straight to the back of the RNS and be placed anywhere convenient.
If you don't have a heated windscreen anywhere around the edge (inside) will probably work.
Just make sure you get the powered (not passive) type - the voltage is supplied up the coax cable without extra wiring.

1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
