I can get a front strut pulled from a 2004 diesel locally for less than £100 which includes the strut mounting bracket.

The part number appears to be 4E0616040AF. Given the age of the car it was pulled from, I wonder if that is the original part or has been replaced in the past.

My only worries about doing this sway are the bolts that hold the upper arms in place and the one at the bottom that holds the strut onto the control arm. I guess these will be a pain to remove due to corrosion.
