Thanks for the info............this has had me looking in the self study documents to see if my 4.2tdi has the same set up? I'm still trying to work out if I have the 09E or 09L g/box? My g/box code is JEF.

Anyhoo...............I made my usual 230 mile drive from Lancashire to Heathrow, having NOT changed the thermostat (for various reasons) and took a gamble but watched the coolant temp gauge like a hawk!
Alas, it sat steady at 90deg all the way.
I don't doubt it will probably repeat the episode of going cool again and if it does, I will change one of two items.

Just thought I'd chuck this in for info.....

I return home on Wednesday and hope the car behaves itself then!
